Terry Fernelius (Kriekard) - Class Of 1968

Terry Fernelius Kriekard, age 67, passed away at home on March 4, 2017 due to long term effects from Hodgkin’s disease in 1975.

Terry was born on February 21, 1950 in Ogden to Carl and Lorna Fernelius. She grew up in South Weber and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1968. She graduated from Weber State College in 1972 with a B.A. in mathematics, a rare accomplishment for women of that era.  She taught math at Olympus Junior High in Salt Lake City before embarking on a 31 year long career at Hill AFB as a computer specialist and 2nd level supervisor for the 75th Communications Squadron, retiring in 2008. She met her husband, Paul, at Hill AFB. They married on April 6, 1985 and their family was made complete with the addition of one son, Tony, on July 12, 1990.

Terry enjoyed a variety of activities including genealogy, reading, and travelling. She enjoyed trips to Europe, New Zealand, Turkey, China, Costa Rica, Japan, and South Africa. She was an animal lover, always having cats for pets and taking long hikes with her chocolate labrador, Coal.  She volunteered at the Weber County Animal Shelter, Sundance Film Festival, Davis Arts Council, and Utah Symphony.  She was a big fan of Weber State University Basketball.  In recent years, she also enjoyed attending Yoga and Gentle Movement classes and the friendships formed there.

Terry is survived by her husband, son, and siblings, Carol (Howard) Stetser of Fort Collins, Colorado; Mark Fernelius of South Weber; and Nancy (David) Herbert of Washington Terrace; and 15 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
