Norda Geneal Gardner (Sorensen) - Class Of 1963

Norda Geneal Gardner Sorensen

11/06/1944---12/08/2012

Our sweet mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend passed away Saturday night Dec. 8th, 2012 at home, surrounded by her family, after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Geneal was born to Ken and Norda Gardner on November 6, 1944 in Spanish Fork, Utah. She is preceded in death by her husband Alton Clair Sorensen, to whom she married on March 26, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple for time and all eternity. She will be missed by many but especially her six children, Alton Craig (Melanie), Kenna, Brad (Tiffinie), Stephanie (Neal) Richter, Corrie (Eloy) Alonso and Brian (Shannon). Many things in life brought her great joy including her loyal dog Maggie, her extended family, and her 20 grandchildren with the birth of her 20th grandchild just days prior to her passing.

Throughout her life, Geneal recognized the importance of her role as our mother. She was constantly finding ways to teach us important principles through her example and involvement with PTA, booster club, and church callings. Mainly, however, we will never forget how she was our most avid supporter to our never-ending sporting pursuits. In so doing, she miraculously managed to always be at the crossroads of our lives, for which we are eternally grateful. She was also very well known for her witty sense of humor, generosity and contagious smile. During the last three years, she enjoyed great peace while serving in the Salt Lake Temple. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and our biggest fan. There are not enough words to describe the person she was, but we feel there has never been a more loving and selfless person in the world and we are HER biggest fans.

All services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints South Cottonwood Stake Center, 1250 East 4800 South, SLC Utah 84117. Viewings will be on Friday, Dec. 14 at 6-8 p.m. and Saturday Dec. 15 at 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00am. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.

And then the e-mails stopped coming.

I was devastated at Geneal's death.  She never told me she had pancreatic cancer and we communicated right up until the e-mails stopped coming.

I didn't have many friends who were girls at Clearfield High because girls intimidated me but Geneal was always a friend.  I never dated her but I could trust her and we had many personal conversations.  Honestly, six months after her death, I miss her e-mails and will really miss not seeing her at our CHS 50th High School Reunion.
