Albert Anthony (Al). Leikis Jr. - Class Of 1967

On the morning of October 4th 2014, Al passed away after a long battle with cancer at his home in Spring Branch, Texas attended by his loving family. Al was 64 years old. 

Al Leikis was born in Chicago, IL on October 8th 1949. He was the eldest son of Albert Antony Leikis, Sr.and LaVona Daines Leikis 

Al grew up in Utah and as a young man he joined the United States Air Force. He faithfully served his country as a telephone communications technician until he retired as a Master Sgt. in 1989. Al worked in the computer industry for some time after his retirement from the military but his dream was to own his own business. Al realized this dream when in 1995 he built a building a few feet up the road from his home and proudly opened "Ma and Pa's Rentals." He and Doris delighted in operating their business together, renting out equipment to others looking to make their place in the beauty of the Canyon Lake area. For 19 years Al ran this business with his wife at his side until they both retired in 2012.

Al was preceded in death by both of his parents, Albert, Sr. and LaVona and three infant sisters.

Al is survived by his wife of 42 years, Doris Byington Leikis of Spring Branch, Texas. His brothers; David Leikis (wife Debbie) of Mendon, Utah and Eddie Leikis of Clearfield, Utah. His children; Kristy Fulton of Roosevelt, Utah; Michael Safford (wife Holly) of Roosevelt, Utah; Craig Leikis (wife Tonya) of Hurst, Texas and Shanna Limas of San Antonio, Texas. His grandchildren; Sawyer Fulton,Briana Fulton, Blake Safford, Darby Safford,Cordesh Safford, Brock Leikis,Chloe Leikis, Jenna Limas and Bishop Limas as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Gentiva Hospice, St. Luke's Hospital, North Central Baptist Hospital, Oncology of San Antonio, The Heart Clinic of San Antonio, and Smithvalley Family Medicine Clinic for their exceptional care during Al's long battle as well as to his sister-in-law Judy Troyer and their close family friend, Mary Edgar, who provided each of us with their love and support during this difficult time. 

Memorial services will be held for Al on Friday, October 10th 2014 at 11:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas, followed by graveside services at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in Canyon Lake, Texas. 

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Al's name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
