John Pannell Coyle - Class Of 1968

John P. Coyle, born 29 June 1949 died 30 June 1979 in a motorcycle accident outside Albuquerque NM where he was stationed in the USAF to reclassify as an helicopter pilot.  John was a Captain in the US Air Force.   He was buried in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

John Pannell Coyle, 30, will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the U.S. National Cemetery at Fort Gibson with Lescher Funeral Home in charge. Born on June 29, 1949, in El Paso, Texas, Capt. Coyle died Saturday in Bernallilo, N.M. He was active in the United States Air Force at the time of his death. He had served with the Air Force for the past three years and was stationed at Shaw Air Force base in South Carolina. He was a graduate of Clearfield High School in Clearfield, Utah, and later graduated from Utah State University in 1976. He served with the United States Army in Vietnam as a Helicopter pilot, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He also had been recommended for the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star. Full military honors will be presented at graveside by Tinker Air Force Base located in Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, Karen; his parents, Chief Master Sgt. (Ret.) James Coyle and Mrs. Loretta (Pannell) Coyle of New Mexico; two brothers, twin brother, Capt. Joseph Coyle, U.S.A.F.; and James Coyle of Clovis, N.M. and his sister, Jareta Coyle of Ogden, Utah.
