David C Montgomery - Class Of 1963

David C. Montgomery, 71 of West Point passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at McKay-Dee Hospital in the arms of his sweetheart surrounded by his family, due to a brief battle with cancer. 

David was born February 11, 1945 in Ogden, Utah to Reese and Norinne Montgomery.  He was the third child of seven and is known to the family as the “white headed little sh**!” He graduated the first senior class of Clearfield High School in 1963, and attended Weber State College.  David served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern Atlantic States, he continued to serve in many callings standing strong and faithful throughout his life.  He married the girl of his dreams, Velma Argyle in the SLC Temple on November 18, 1966.  For over 34 years he worked at ZCMI when he retired as Store Manager in 2001. 

David always enjoyed working on his historic home with Velma.  Together they built a place where their children and grandchildren often come to play and make memories.  David is an avid outdoors man, handyman, mechanic, gardener, and bargain shopper.  He also loved road trips with Velma and cooking for his family. 

Survived by his wife Velma and their children; Dany (Lori) Montgomery, Amy (Curt) Niederhauser, Regi (Dylan) Daniels, Matt Montgomery and 18 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter who will always love their “Grandpa Dave.”  Also surviving are his siblings; Louann (Gary) Carson, Marge (Doug) Hawkes, Dennis (Ralene) Montgomery, Nancy (Ken) Nelson and sister-in-law, Georgia Montgomery. Preceded in death by his parents Reese and Norinne, older sister Myrna, older brother Jan, daughter DeLane and grandson Noah. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the West Point 16th Ward, 4383 W. 300 N., West Point.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
