In Memory

Gene Stanley Dahl - Class Of 1964

Our lives will forever be changed with the sudden loss of our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend on the morning of July 19th, 2014. His unexpected passing has left a void that can never be filled.   Those who knew Gene will remember him for his incredible work ethic, his unselfishness and his witty sense of humor.

Gene was born to Stanley W. and Della C. Dahl. He grew up in West Point, Utah and graduated from Clearfield High where he competed in football and was a standout baseball player on the State Championship Team in 1964.  Gene held a B. S. degree from Weber State University where he played baseball.  He was also a member of the Army Reserves.

Gene married his college sweetheart, Sandra Randolph on February 23, 1968 and they were blessed with three sons.  Gene was an avid sports fan.  He loved nothing more than watching and coaching his sons in sports and more recently his grandsons.  Gene willingly made great sacrifices to make sure his sons had all they needed to effectively compete and live honorable and responsible lives.  He was so proud of his family and took great joy in their achievements.

Gene competed at the highest level in all that he did.  He loved participating in all facets of Rodeo from being successful in steer wrestling for many consecutive years as well as holding positions as President of his college rodeo club and President of the Utah High School Rodeo Association.  He often hosted many rodeo world champions at his home in West Haven, Utah.

Professionally, Gene spent 40 years in the wholesale lumber industry where he was recognized with numerous awards for his outstanding client service and salesmanship.  It was not uncommon for his clients to become life-long friends.  Gene had the ability to make strangers feel welcome and friends feel valued. Your day was a little better, you smiled a little longer when you had the opportunity to share a few moments with Gene Dahl.

Gene is survived by his wife Sandra of 46 years; his three sons, Cody of West Haven; Clint (Amanda) of Willard; Kyle (Shayla) of West Haven; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Colleen Gardner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be held in the Hooper Cemetery located at 5340 S. 6300 W., Hooper, Utah.
