Jodi Kristine Grogan - Class Of 1998

ROY- Jodi Kristine Grogan, age 35, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015, in her sleep at her childhood home.

She was born October 17, 1979, at Blytheville AFB, Blytheville, AR, to Rodney and Marie (Litterst) Grogan. From the minute she could walk and talk, she was our "social butterfly". She lit up a room and made friends wherever she went. She had such a big and kind heart and you knew if Jodi was your friend, you had a true friend for life. During her young life she "traveled the world" with her parents as her dad was USAF. She had a four year adventure in Needingworth, England. While in England, she attended local village British School and returned to the states a "little Brit", accent and all. She moved with her parents to Hill AFB in September 1985, and attended Clinton Elementary, West Clinton Elementary, Syracuse Jr. High and graduated Clearfield High in 1998.

She met and married Aaron Letcher in 2001. They were later divorced, but as time healed the wounds of their relationship, they remained friends.

Jodi worked various jobs growing up, starting with Cinemark Theatres in Layton. She loved her job and its social atmosphere and all the great friends she made there. She later attended and graduated from Stevens Henager College with an Associate's degree as a CNA. Her nurturing, caring and patient side, she inherited from her dad. In the short time she worked in this field, she loved her patients/clients and they loved her.

Jodi's biggest adventure in life began when she was in the 1st grade and became a Brownie Girl Scout. She spent 12 happy years in Girl Scouting and made a lifetime of friends along the way. She earned the Girl Scout Silver Award in Junior High and the GS highest Award, the Gold Award, in High School. Her greatest love in GS was horse camp. Her camp name was "Dallas". Every summer, for 8 years, Dallas attended horse camp at Trefoil Ranch in Provo Canyon. She learned to ride and care for horses and later became a junior staff, Wrangler in Training, helping younger Girl Scouts learn to ride and care for horses. She didn't want to come home at the end of camp. We are positive she is in heaven right now loving and riding the camp horses that went before her!

Jodi was also able to have many leadership and travel adventures because of Girl Scouting. White water rafting in Jackson Hole, Alpine Slide in Park City, Hoover Dam in Las Vegas, Statue of Liberty & Broadway in New York City, Hawaii, Canada cruise, Mexican cruise, Shakespearean Festival Utah, etc., etc. She was privileged to serve as a GSU National Delegate to Dallas Texas at the 1996 GSUSA National Convention. Girl Scouts gave her courage, confidence and character and she made the world a better place.

She is survived by her parents, Rod and Marie Grogan, of Roy, nephews, Kaden 16 and Cristian 7, Roy, her Uncle Kirby and Aunt Donnita Grogan of Neodesha, KS, her Aunt Paula Black, Humbolt, KS, and Aunt Margaret Fife, Independence KS. She leaves behind many cousins in Kansas who will miss her and the opportunity to get to know her better. She also leaves behind longtime companion, Michael Richey.

She was preceded in death by her brother Bryce, maternal grandmother, Pauline Edmaiston, fraternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ernestine Grogan, Uncle George Litterst, Aunt Barbara Rector, Aunt Jocelyn Litterst, and Aunt Debbie Brooke.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 11:45 – 12:45 p.m., prior to services.

Interment in the Roy City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, an account has been established at the Bank of Utah, Roy branch, in Jodi's name. Donations made to this account will be donated to the Girls Scouts of Utah to be used towards camperships for girls to attend Trefoil Ranch horse camp next summer. Jodi would love the thought of other little girls being able to make lifetime friends and memories as she did.

We love you Jodi and will miss you greatly. Please hold that piece of our hearts that you took with you, until the day we see you again. Kiss and hug your big brother "Bricey" for us. Love Mom, Dad, Kaden, and Cristian.
