Roy was born May 22, 1952, to Wendell and Erma Byington and left us on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

He leaves behind his soul mate of 40 years and the love of his life, Karen, and his beloved pets: Bella, Brandon, CC and Simon.

Roy was the eldest of six children: D. Jay Byington, Roy; W. Dale Byington, Ogden; Carwin Byington, Las Vegas; Korene and Bryan Shepherd, Clinton; and Denean and Craig Reynolds, Clearfield.

Roy went to sleep and awakened in paradise, which is exactly where he should be. Our hearts are broken.

He attended Clearfield High School from 1968 to 1970. He graduated from Rhine Main High School in Frankfurt, Germany. In 1971, after graduation, he joined the US Navy. He later served as an officer in the US Army and also served in the Army Reserve.

Roy worked for the State of Utah as a corrections officer.

He and Karen traveled the world and had many adventures. Roy and Karen's passion are their beloved animals. I am certain that one of his greatest joys was being greeted on the other side by his loving pets that passed before him.

Private services will be held for the family on Monday, April 23, 2018.
