Jay Ford Davis - Class Of 1968

Jay Ford Davis, much loved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully of an illness at his home on a beautiful spring morning, May 25, 2006. He was born April 8, 1950, in Ogden, Utah to Donald Charles Davis and Arvona Erma (Ford) Davis. His early years were spent in Utah, Great Falls, Montana, and Auburn, Washington. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1968. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1969-1971 in the Ontario, Quebec mission.

 

He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1975 and worked professionally in financial management. On October 16, 1976, Jay married Jean Gail Liechty in the Manti LDS temple. They were blessed with four wonderful children: Jared Ryan, Joel Andrew, Jennifer Gail and John Robert Davis. Jay was a very devoted and loving husband and father and his family was everything to him.
 
Jay was a licensed pilot and had been a member of the Springville Flying club. Some of his happiest times were spent flying. He also loved fishing and enjoyed many fishing trips with family and friends. He was an avid gardener and loved beautiful flowers. He was currently serving as a High Priest Group instructor and spent many hours studying and pondering the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a man of great faith and loved his Father in Heaven and his Savior deeply.
 
In addition to his children, Jay is survived by his wife, Jean, his parents of Taylorsville, his twin brother, Ray, Ontario, CA; brothers, Hugh (Karen), Sandy; Rick (Ryanne), St. George and Reed (Elaine), Beaverton, OR, a sister Tamra (Phillip) Gresham, West Jordan; parents-in-law, Joan Liechty, Provo; and Wes and Margaret Liechty, Richland, WA; brothers-in-law, Rick (Karen) Liechty, Kent, WA; Jim (Chris) Liechty, Fremont, CA; and Jeff (Lini) Liechty, Springville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and close friends, Brent and Lynette Chynoweth, Orem.
 
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in the Heatheridge Stake Center, 2000 North 450 East, Orem. Interment was in the Orem City Cemetery.
