In Memory

Jamie Joe Cross? (Abshire) - Class Of 1999

Jamie Joe Abshire took her place among the angels to forever watch over us the morning of May 15, 2015, while in the loving arms of her husband, after a courageous three year battle with breast cancer.

Jamie was an example to all of us of courage, strength, endurance and determination. In her short life she loved more, endured more and touched more of us than most ever will. Her illness became an opportunity for many family and friends to serve her and learn from her. She will be greatly missed and will be remembered for her example of living every moment to the fullest.

Jamie was born February 28, 1982 and raised by loving parents DeAnn (Burton) Layman and Ken Cross. She spent her early childhood in Clinton, Utah just a few doors from her future husband. Jamie made many life long friends who love her dearly. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Jamie had touched in so many ways through her short yet memorable life.

Jamie was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jamie graduated from Clearfield High School in 1999 a year early. This is just one of the many examples of her great determination. Jamie could achieve anything she set her mind to. She attended Eagle Gate College of Southern Idaho working to obtain a degree in nutrition, which made possible, her great accomplishment of assisting with the opening of two charter school lunch programs.

On May 4, 2002, Jamie married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Brody Michael Abshire in Ogden, Utah.

Jamie's greatest joy was being a mother to her children Gage and Brianne. She designed her life so that she was able to spend as much time as possible with them. Jamie's children were her entire world and her heart will always be with them.

As a family they enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and spending every possible moment together. She understood that quality far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

Jamie's work experience included, Sales Associate at Riverside Archery, Office Assistant at Cross Action Computer Specialists, Lunchroom Manager at Heritage Academy in Jerome, Idaho and Kitchen Manager at Voyage Academy in Clinton, Utah.

Surviving are her husband Brody; children: Gage and Brianne; mother, DeAnn Layman and father, Ken Cross; mother-in-law, Diana Ochsner; father-in-law Linden (Kim) Abshire; brothers: Richard Cross, Jared (Nikki) Cross; sister, Harley Layman; sister-in-law Lindsay (Ken) Ashworth; grandmothers; grandfathers; aunts; uncles; cousins nieces and nephews who all love her dearly.
