Melvin Terry Abbott - Class Of 1968 VIEW PROFILE

 

On Father’s Day, June 17, 2018, Melvin Terry Abbott age 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with COPD. He was born February 2, 1950 in Delta Ut, to Manley and Maxine Abbott. Terry was very artistic. He sketched many pictures, created many wood carvings and is the author of the book Neancum’s Gold. One of his life’s passions was digging fossils. He was a self-taught paleontologist and widely known in the fossil world for his prepping. He found and discovered a new species of trilobite and one new species of cystode (fossilized sea urchin). They both were named after him, Olenoidiesabbotti and Parasistidiesabbotti. He was also a journeyman electrician and completed a course through the Union Special Corp. to become a sewing machine mechanic/technician. He managed and set up several sewing plants.

He was preceded in death by his father Manley Abbott. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his children, Kelly Marie (Daryl Bagley), Lacy Mae (Byron Hernandez), Bonny Sue (John Webster), Morgan Terry Abbott, Daniel Clair Abbott, Mother Maxine Abbott, brothers, Tony Abbott (Thorelle), Daniel Abbott (Kathy), sisters, Wendy Pearce (Mike), Patricia Matheson (Ivan), Jennifer Tolbert (Bryce), grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A memorial will be held at the Sutherland church Saturday June 23, at 11 a.m.

Per Terry's wishes please bring a tree to the memorial to be planted at a later date. He would prefer a tree in lieu of flowers. Trees will be planted in his honor.
