CARL BERT ALBRECHTSEN

SALT LAKE CITY -- Carl Bert Albrechtsen, 49, son of Howard and Julia G. Drury Albrechtsen passed away June 26, 2001 at LDS Hospital of natural causes. He was born January 14, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Carl graduated from Clearfield High School and attended Weber State College where he studied sociology and received a certificate in gerontology. He was the first Director of the Heritage Senior Citizens Center in Clearfield. He was honored by the Clearfield Jaycees as Outstanding Young Man of the Year in Clearfield. He was also mentioned in the book Outstanding Young Men in America.

He served an LDS mission to the Central American Mission. During his high school and college years he worked as a night manager at Stimson's Market in Layton. He was the owner of Albrechtsen Trucking, worked for Wadsworth Construction and was an excavation contractor and owner of The Dirt Guys. He was very active in rehabilitation services for alcoholics and drug abusers for many years.

Carl is survived by his father and stepmother, one brother, and two sisters. His father, Howard Albrechtsen; brother, Howard G. (Donette) Albrechtsen; and sister, Susan (Bruce) Anderson; all of Bloomington, Illinois, and his stepmother, Lila Seely Albrechtsen; sister, Laurie Jane (Jim) Hebert; and very special stepsister, Kathryn Seely; all of Layton. He had nine nephews and nieces, three grand-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

John Harmer (1970)

Carl was one of the smartest people I know.

He had great confidence in his convictions but was very willing to listen to and appreciate the merits of opposing viewpoints.  Sometimes when I am in a heated discussion I still hear his voice and it reminds me that friendships are more important than points of view.
