Maj. Paradon Silpasornprasit Maj. Paradon Silpasornprasit died on Aug. 9, 2013, at Penrose Trauma Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was 44. A full military funeral was held Aug. 15 at the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Cadet Chapel in Colorado Springs. He was buried with full military honors at the Air Force Academy. Silpasornprasit was born on March 17, 1969, in Bangkok, Thailand. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1991, after graduating from Clearfield High School in Clearfield, Utah. He worked for nine years as a dental assistant and an NCOIC. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communicative arts from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and was commissioned through OTS in 2001. He has served as an executive officer, a deputy chief of public affairs, a chief of media relations at Hickam Air Force Base, a detachment commander in Korea, chief of public affairs at Travis Air Force Base, and the chief of the scheduling division at the USAF Academy, where he was responsible for scheduling training for more than 4,000 cadets. He was on active duty at the Academy from 1991 until his death. Maj. Silpasornprasit’s decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Force Commendation Medal (four Oak Leaf Clusters), Air Force Achievement Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster) and Army Achievement Medal. He met his beautiful wife, Sue, while stationed in Colorado Springs; they have been married more than six years. Maj. Silpasornprasit has two children, Matthew and Andrew. He is survived by his wife, Susan Silpasornprasit of Colorado Springs, son Matthew of Sacramento State University, son Andrew of Colorado Springs, mother, Murylee Lowery of Thailand, step-parents Robert and Shirley Shaffer of Ridgecrest, brother Robert M.
