Lana Florence Chatelain Chadburn

Minersville: Lana Florence Chadburn, born Oct. 13, 1950, to Leonard and Emiline Florence in Ogden, UT passed away peacefully at home Sept. 4, 2012, with her family by her side after an extended struggle with cancer. She grew up in a high mountain valley of the Wasatch in Porterville, UT, was schooled in Morgan, UT and graduated from Clearfield H.S.

Later in life journeyed to So. Utah to settle in Minersville where she met her husband Gary Chadburn. They were married at the historic "Moonshine Cabin" on the backside of Frisco Peak June 17, 1988. Lana attended SUU in Cedar City. She loved to grow houseplants, garden, read, cook, camp, explore, collect things, and go to the dances. She was very dedicated to her family and friends. Lana worked hard, played hard, and was a great example to all who knew her for her energy, love of life and others. Herself, her family, and her home were always immaculate and were her pride. She was an outdoor lady. She loved animals, dogs and cats, and had many through the years. Her passion was her horses and the fellowship of anyone that desired to ride. She was very active and competitive in barrel racing events both locally and regionally. Lana maintained the County Arena for many years and served and taught in the Beaver Co. Horse 4H program for about 20 years teaching many kids horsemanship and the thrill of running fast with the wind in your hair. She loved to roam the hills and go on trail rides. Lana was the greatest companion to Gary. They were always together and enjoyed many of the same things in life. She had many acquaintances from doing the local ladies fingernails in the area for many years. She was a humanitarian, serving in the Scouting Program, and also as the Director of the Beaver Co. Food Bank for 7 years, helping the hungry and needy. Lana always made one feel special and important and showed great care and respect for the elderly. She stuck up for anyone a bad word was ever said about. Balance and harmony were key to her existence. She was a great gal. Everybody loved Lana.

She is survived by her husband, Gary, her sons, Chad (Denise) Chatelain, Zane (Libby) Chadburn, Gabe (Cherish) Chadburn, and her daughter, Shelly (Wade) Marshall, 11 grandchildren, her sister, Kathy Stain and brother, Larry (Evonne) Florence, sister-in-law, Maria Florence and her many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all her family and friends who helped her ride to the other side, the Huntsman Cancer Institute and her amazing doctors there over the past year, also the Beaver Valley Hospital Hospice Nurses who helped care for her the past few weeks.
