Deborah (Debbie) Ruth Nelson (Ganzerla) - Class Of 1969

Deborah Ganzerla

Raymond, MS

Deborah "Debbie" Ruth Ganzerla, 61, was called home on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Jackson. Debbie was a longtime resident of Raymond, MS where she had a diverse career, working for Dr. Hiram A. Gatewood as a dental assistant as well as retiring from a longstanding career on staff at Hinds Community College.

Known by those closest to her as an eternal optimist, Debbie looked for the best in every person and in every situation. From cooking to crafting, her creativity and innovativeness helped Debbie take the ordinary and turn it into something extra special. Debbie took in the simple pleasures of life through enjoying the beauty of outdoors from a porch swing, bank of a pond, or as a 4-H volunteer leader.

Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Donald G. Nelson, nephew, Scott Nelson, and Sister-in-Law, Carol Nelson. She is survived by her mother, Lorraine Nelson, brothers Reverend Cliff (Kathy) Nelson, and Don Nelson; children, son Dr. Chad (Sandra) Stocks, son, Shane (Dr. Amanda) Stocks, daughter, Laura Ganzerla, and grandchildren; Carly, Sadie, A.J., and Jeremy.

Visitation (9:00 a.m.) and the memorial service (11:00 a.m.) will be at Hinds Independent Methodist Church in Raymond on Thursday, April 4, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Hinds Community College Development Foundation Scholarship Fund.
