James (Jim) Leroy Pierce - Class Of 1964

James Jim LeRoy Pierce, 71, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018. Born and raised in Erie, PA, Jim was one of five children of Floyd LeRoy and Ruth Merriel Burnham Pierce. Jim's older sister, Billie Ruth, was stillborn, so Jim was the oldest as the family was raised. When he was a teenager the family left PA, and settled in Clearfield, UT, graduating from Clearfield High School Class of 1964. Following his graduation Jim served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission. Jim was drafted and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971.

During his life Jim worked both for the IRS as a tax collector and for the United States Postal Service as a clerk until his retirement in 2008. He served as USPS Postal Union President.

Jim had five daughters from previous marriages. On November 17, 2005, Jim married his sweetheart, Leslie Lynn Rowe and they enjoyed 12 wonderful years together.

Jim loved fishing, hunting, painting, and woodworking. He also loved basketball and baseball and enjoyed coaching. He was a devoted Yankees fan.

Jim is survived by his wife, Leslie Lynn Pierce; children: Jennifer (Chris) Bachman, Pocatello, ID; Shelly (Randy) Nay, Ogden, UT; January (Daniel) Webb, Nibley, Utah; Jaimee (Raymon) Chadburn, Pleasant View, UT; and Jodie Buttars, Harrisville, UT; 15 grandchildren; and one granddog, Oliver; and siblings: Patricia Jo Benincosa (Skip), New River, AZ; Jonathan Wayne (Sue) Pierce, Madison, AL; and Robin Rochelle (Ryan) Harris, South Weber, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents; and older sister.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Kingston Ward, 1425 Kingston Dr. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
