Darla Heaton (Shoell) - Class Of 1971

Our beloved wife and mother, Darla Shoell, 60, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer.  She was born on July 4, 1954 to Gerald F. and Edda Johnson Heaton in Ogden, Utah.  She was raised in Clearfield, Utah.

She married her best friend Phillip Edwin Shoell on August 14, 1971 in Clearfield, Utah.  They were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on October 29, 1977.

Darla was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings.  She touched the lives of many; she especially loved working with the young children.  She will be missed by so many.   

She worked at the Internal Revenue Service for 28 years in many areas, most lately as a computer programmer.

Darla cherished her grandkids and loved spoiling them.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and making jewelry.  Darla loved music especially playing the violin and singing and was a member of community orchestras.  She passed on her love of music to her children and grandchildren.

Darla is survived by her loving husband, Phill; sons, Edwin (Joan) and Nathan (Mallory); daughters, Amy and Angela (Carl) Moberley; eight grandchildren and brothers, Ronald (Marilyn) Heaton and Paul Heaton; and sisters, Geraldine (Steven) Cottrell and Bonnie Heaton.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lynda Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the South Ogden Stake Center, 4075 Orchard Ave.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
