Gregory Ben Gooch - Class Of 1970

SYRACUSE - Gregory Ben Gooch, 62, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, after a long fight with cancer.  Greg grew up in Clearfield, Utah and attended Clearfield High School.  He lived in Syracuse, Utah the past 10 years. He married Denise Gooch, and later divorced.

Greg’s work took him to many places in the United States, living in New Jersey, Texas, and New Mexico. His love of building and construction allowed him to create beautiful homes, kitchens, and special children’s size cabinets for his mother and his grandchildren.  He used his talent to build and design many displays for the Syracuse Museum.  His skill allowed him to build a miniature display of Syracuse City in its early history.  Greg’s talent’s included building miniature full scale homes, trains, and gardens.

Greg participated in many causes that helped protect children from child abuse and was proud of his fight to protect children.

Greg loved to golf!  He felt it was the best therapy he had and he faithfully golfed at Sniders Golf Course with his buddies every Sunday.  He hit a number of “hole in ones” and was so proud to have his name in the newspaper.

Greg had a big heart and loved his grandchildren.  He played with them and loved to get the type of toys that allowed him to help them use their imagination and really play.  We loved to see him pretend to fly as he would run around the yard with his grandson, with their arms stretched out behind their backs.

He will be missed by all of his family and friends.  His mom and dad would like to thank Denise Gooch, Greg’s brother’s and sisters, and the hospiceNURSES for all of their love and kindness that was shown to Greg.  Many hours of service were given as they took him to doctor’s appointments, chemo treatments, and nursed him at home.  Their love and service will always be remembered as tender mercies.

Greg is survived by his parents Phillip and Beverline Gooch, Syracuse; daughter, Sandra Vigorita Gooch, Syracuse; Grandchildren, Savanna and Sander Smith; Brothers, Jeff (Kim) Gooch, Mt. Green; Bill (Chris) Gooch, Whitehall, Montana; Tim (Michele) Gooch, West Point; Mike PENNY) Gooch, Syracuse; Sisters, Stephanie Burns, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Mary Petrie, St. Helena, California; Cindy Gooch, Syracuse.
