Lisa’s friend Krista Hansen Birch from Utah shares her memory of Lisa. Gosh, it seems like it’s been a hundred years since I saw her. We went through 6th grade, Jr High and High School together. I really don’t remember any hobbies. She left soon after high school to go be a nanny in New York. Then she came back and her health declined. I don’t know if Lisa had any hobbies when they were young. She didn’t pay any instruments or any sports.
Lisa’s friend Dana from California shares her memory of Lisa. Lisa went blind due to her illness and later had to go on dialysis. She spent most of her time at doctor’s appointments. She wasn’t inclined to want to live that way and thus made the decision to quit her dialysis. She entered the hospital on Feb 14th and was gone by Feb 21st, 1989. She was brave and very sure of her choice. She was just sick and weak all of the time. Before she passed, she had learned braille and developed a great group of friends within that community. She had a great sense of humor the entire time, which is how we connected. We laughed all the time. It sounds silly, but I still have the stuffed bear she gave me for my birthday and the braille learning pad she lent me to learn braille with her. Thanks for honoring her at your reunion. She was a great gal!
