Douglas Kopecky Obituary

Douglas Kopecky, 60, Syracuse, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025. He was born June 14th, 1964, in Ogden, Utah, to Carma Hull and James Edward Kopecky. Douglas was one of four sons. His brothers are Edward, Todd and Danny Kopecky. Douglas’s father was in the military which involved them living all over the country and in several places in the world. Before high school, Douglas moved to Nebraska where he met his best friend to this day. It was in Nebraska where Douglas fell in love with the sport of Wrestling. His junior year of high school he relocated to Utah. Douglas was an amazing athlete and after joining the wrestling team at Clearfield high school he went on to an undefeated season both junior and senior year. He was also awarded as a two time All-American.

He not only was an amazing athlete, he was a successful self-employed businessman, loving brother, a caring son, a phenomenal father and a beautiful human being. Douglas enjoyed listening to 70’s and 80’s rock. One of his favorite bands was Hootie and the Blowfish. Douglas was the kind of person that gave everyone a warm feeling. He gave so much and never asked for anything in return. He was always loved by everyone he met. Family was most important to Douglas. He was supportive, loving, protective, and proud of his children, Shea, and Crue as he was with his beautiful grandchildren, Alec and Jayde. One thing he always did was show up to his grandkids' sports. He never missed anything to do with his kids or grandkids. He made it non-negotiable to be in support of them. He also kept in touch with his best friend Eric since junior high they stayed best friends.

Douglas is survived by his loving children Shea and Crue. His beautiful grandson Alec, and granddaughter Jayde. He is also survived by his mother Carma Hull, father James Kopecky, and his 3 brothers Edward, Todd and Danny Kopecky. Funeral services will be held at Leavitt Mortuary in Ogden, Utah Thursday, February 20th at 11am.
