Bruce Merrill Dyson, 54, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the McKay-Dee Hospital, Ogden, UT. H

e was born June 9, 1958 in Ogden, UT, the son of Merrill J. and Geraldine Edwards Dyson. He was raised in West Point and attended Davis County schools and Weber State University. He was employed by Bartile and was in the lawn care business.

He loved the beauties of nature, hiking Adams Canyon, camping in the Tetons and his dog Conan. He loved being with his family and listening to the chitter-chatter of his daughter Danielle. In September 2011, he was diagnosed with nemaline myopathy, a rare and debilitating illness. He spent the last year residing at the Washington Terrace Care Center where he received good care and physical therapy, regaining enough strength and mobility to finally venture outdoors again and enjoy long rides in his electric wheelchair. He made many new friends at the Care Center. The disease finally won the battle. He opted to be taken off life support and leave this life on his own terms.

He married Sue Lee. They later divorced but remained good friends. He is survived by his parents, wife Ellen, sons Joshua (Kristina), Derek (Carisa), Troy (Lorenda), daughters Danielle, Christa (Joseph), five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother Mark (Janae) Dyson, sisters Lorraine (Brad) Lund, Mary Ann (Mark) Cecotti, Amy (Matt) Trease and lifetime friends, David Fisher and Drew Thurgood. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Janet Dyson and Lorin and Thelda Edwards. A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the West Point 17th Ward, 4000 W 800 N, and was preceded by family visitation. Cremation was conducted by Aaron's Mortuary.
