Danny Von Almen - Class Of 1972

Danny Von Almen

Danny Leon Von Almen, or Dan as many knew him, is happy and at peace as he returned to his heavenly home on July 9, 2026. He was born in Ogden, Utah on November 9, 1953 to Leon and Shirley Von Almen. He spent his life and raised his family in Sunset, Utah, a place he loved and called home.

It took a couple different attempts, but Danny was able to convince Debi Wood to marry him. They were married and sealed in the Ogden, Utah temple on June 6, 1986. They later welcomed 5 tiny vultures into their home - Grady, Erin, Kayley, Conner, and Garrett.

Danny was a man of many talents and interests. He was a dedicated Laboratory Technician at Davis Hospital, where he also served as the Assistant Lab Director and was known to joke around and play pranks with co-workers and friends. As quick as he was to make anyone laugh with a well-timed dad joke or his “awesome” dance moves, he was also caring and compassionate, always ready to lend a helping hand, or an ear, or a shoulder. Danny loved golfing, fishing, and anything that got him outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and made many sacrifices to make sure they were taken care of. With his family, he often traveled to St. George and enjoyed many different productions at the Tuacahn Theater. Later in life, Danny could be found enjoying women’s fast pitch softball with his wife and competing with Debi to see who could complete their crossword puzzle first ( he usually took the initiative to complete Debi’s crossword as well as his). He was a humble man who was faithful in his religious beliefs, knew the value of hard work and the importance of family, three things that mattered most to him.

Danny is loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Debi Von Almen, 5 children - Grady (Amber) Von Almen, Erin (Brayden) Furlong, Kayley (Adam) Wolk, Conner Von Almen, and Garrett Von Almen, 6 grandchildren - Mason, Rowan, Bruce, Penny, Violet, and Wade, mother in law Aleta Wood, and many other extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Shirley Von Almen, sister Diane Peterson, as well as parents in law Mel and Helen Wood.

The viewing for Danny will be held on Saturday, 25 Jul 2026 at 9:00amMDT at Myers Mortuary - Roy, 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, Utah, 84067. This will be followed by the funeral service at 11:00amMDT, and the interment at 12:30pmMDT at Clinton City Cemetery, 813 North 750 West, Clinton, Utah, 84015.

In celebration of Danny's life, we welcome you to share your memories and upload photos to his memorial page. He was a man of great humor and compassion, and we know there are countless stories to share. Let's remember him as he was: kind, funny, and dedicated.
