Amy Marie Misik (Wallace)

Amy Marie Wallace left us suddenly and unexpectedly on September 5th, 2026. She was born in Salida, Colorado on August 13, 1969 to Carol and Ron Misik. Amy showed an incredible amount of strength and quiet resilience throughout her life, beginning as a young child after a life-altering illness at 5 years old. Amy woke from a coma completely blind and, with the diligent help of her parents and grandparents, learned how to walk, talk, and eat again. After attending the Utah School for the Blind from 1975–1977, she miraculously regained her sight overnight and continued to prove doctors wrong for many years to come. You may be learning this about her for the first time, despite having known her, which is a testament to the way she endured hard things without letting them define her.

She grew up in Clinton, Utah where she became a big sister and self-appointed second mom to Benjamin (BJ) when she was 11 years old, spending much of their childhood outdoors together (BJ willingly, Amy not so much). Her favorite big sister babysitting tactic involved terrorizing him by threatening to “call the monsters” on the phone by leaving it off the hook until the dial tone started beeping. This was so effective that the sound of a dial tone still sends shivers down his spine. Amy made lifelong friends at Clearfield High School, which she attended from 1984-1987.

She married Steven Anderson in 1988, and together they shared 21 years of marriage and two kids, Caitlin and Dawson. Our Mom raised us on a steady diet of the best the 90’s had to offer: popsicles on the front porch, classic 80’s movies, baking brownies on rainy days, slow drives with the windows down, cinnamon and sugar toast when we were sick, rides to McDonald's just to get an ice cream cone, watching reruns of King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond before bed, and 90’s country music including but not limited to: Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, and of course Billy Ray Cyrus. You could always count on her to dance with us in the living room. As a mom, she cheered for us so loudly that we couldn’t hear if anyone was against us. This extended to cheering for all of our friends, and at our respective baseball and softball games, which she loved attending.

On May 8, 2012, Amy married the love of her life, John Wallace, and extended the title of “Mom” to her step-kids Jessica and Cody. On October 17, 2025 John and Amy were sealed for time and all eternity at the Syracuse, Utah temple. Mom was the queen of getting cozy, laughing at an embarrassing story, watching comfort shows, sending a thoughtful note on your bad days, making a good cup of coffee, getting a little sweet treat, and enjoying a long afternoon on the porch with a book. Above all, Amy loved to laugh, and didn’t take herself, or life, too seriously. The soundtrack of her home was her epic laugh. Mom instilled in us all the tools we need to go on without her, and she would absolutely hate how heartbroken we are over her untimely goodbye.

Amy’s favorite title was “grandma” and she took the job seriously, especially when it came to spoiling the grandkids for their birthdays. Daysen, Brecklynn, Silas, Harper, Indie, and Romy will miss Grandma Amy terribly. We imagine there was a great party in heaven when Amy was reunited with her favorite person, her Dad, who passed away 7 months before her.

She leaves behind her beloved husband and eternal companion John, her mom Carol, brother Benjamin (Loni) her kids Caitlin (Kody), Dawson (Hayden), Jessica (Josh) and Cody, grandkids Daysen, Brecklynn, Silas, Indie, Harper, and Romy, nieces Brylie and Harper, and nephew Mason. Last but certainly not least, she also leaves behind two fur-babies, Milo and Penny, who loved their mom dearly. She’s preceded in death by her dad, Ron.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Amy's life on Thursday September 17, 2026, at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S 1900 W, Roy. A viewing will begin at 9:30-10:45 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery.
