How did you meet?

We met when we lost our registration material at Weber State. I thought it was the worst day of my life but it turned out to be the best!

School Story:

I really miss our cute little green gym uniforms; you know, the ones with the little green fabric belt with a metal fastener. I remember we had to take them home every Friday to wash them and they needed it! I miss the days when cigarettes were candy, nylons came in 2 pieces, we could leave the keys in the car, teachers wore ties &/or high heels everyday, John Lennon was still with us, and we could shop at the Bon Marche and eat at Hawkins Drive-In. I also greatly miss the smell of the pool across from CHS. My claim to fame is that I am from CLINTON, and that I was on the Viscount Assembly in 1965 (remember the scandal because we wore shorts as surfers!). Oh, the innocence........ I remember how much trouble the REBELS got in for wearing their shirt tails out; woooo. Our grandkids would really get a laugh out of that one!

We were so blessed to grow up when we did. We didn't have to have police at our school to protect us, nor drugs around every corner, nor bullying made public on the internet. Not perfect but I wouldn't trade it for today's world! Falcon's rule!

Share your story since high school.

You ask what I have been up to since HS? Well, after leaving good ol’ Clearfield High and graduating from WSC where I was a student body officer, I worked as a social worker at an Adoption Agency. I met my husband, Alan Hess, when I lost my college registration materials and he found them. We have been married for 45 years and we reside in Bountiful, UT. It’s been quite a ride raising two sons and two daughters through all the adventures in life. Luckily, they all turned out like their Dad. We are really proud of them finishing their education, marrying, and giving us 17 darling grandchildren. We are the owners of Hess Travel, and so have been blessed to experience the joys (and travails) of travel.
I performed with a traveling English Handbell Ringing Choir for 15 years and enjoy reading, scrapbooking, calligraphy, and gardening. I enjoy writing and performing humorous (?) readings as humor is what has got me through the tight spots in life.
I have SO enjoyed working with the reunion committee & remembering old fun friends that I forgot I had. Life, really, has given me more than I deserve.

What's on your bucket list?

Write an autobiography like my sweet Mother did. She influenced so many people, especially her grandchildren and great by accomplishing that. I'll probably never get it done though!

What gives you "FALCON PRIDE"?

Our reunions have been first rate; much better than my husbands (Ogden High)! Keep up the good work@

Any advice for your fellow Alumni?

Keep in touch with your fellow Falcons of l965!

Dear Laile and family,

I am so sorry to hear of Kenny’s passing.  He was one in a million!  He was always such a people person; always keeping in touch and caring how others were doing.  You always felt comfortable around Kenny.  He was so admired for his integrity and his humility.

I have many fond memories of our days in Clinton and throughout school.  How we loved to hear him and Roger and Jan perform!  And we had so much fun being in the roadshows.  He was just a natural talent and lots of fun.

I often heard him say how lucky he was to have you in his life and he was so proud of your children.

I know of his firm conviction of the plan of salvation and of his love for the Savior.  I will pray that the spirit will surround you with comfort, as I can only imagine how much you will miss him!

Thinking of you with tenderness,

Carol Nelson Hess

Mikey was so friendly to everyone and somehow very positive about his difficult disease.   I remember him showing me how high he could raise his hand…..clear up to the table.   We can all learn a lot from Mikey.

I grew up with the twins in Clinton and they were a big part of my life!  I remember Cheryl had the cutest laugh and we shared so many experiences in 4-H, roadshows, MIA.  Her mother, Marie, was our 4-h teacher and my mother, Dorothy Nelson was the roadshow director so we shared the wealth.  Cheryl was a fierce competitor in academics through school and no one could measure up to either Cheryl nor Carol.   We will miss her so!

He was not only a wonderful teacher but a spiritual giant and wonderful example.  Is he the one that sold us candy at the bookstore?  cool.   Carol Nelson Hess
